ABOUT US
SwayamSutra is more than a project—it’s a family, a movement, a hope for a better tomorrow. Together, we’re stitching a narrative of empowerment, sustainability, and resilience, one cloth bag at a time.
Founded with a dual mission—environmental sustainability and women’s empowerment—we decided to meet rural women where they were. Right on their street, we set up a vibrant hub of creation.
Here, they craft eco-friendly cotton bags while embracing a sense of independence, dignity, and purpose. What started as a simple idea is now a growing community.

Welcome to SwayamSutra—where threads of change are woven with love.
OUR VISION
To create a world where rural women are not only financially independent but also seen, heard, and celebrated as agents of change—leading the way toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.
OUR MISSION
To empower rural women by creating home-based earning opportunities through the production of eco-friendly cotton bags—stitching together livelihoods, sustainability, and a shared sense of dignity, purpose, and community.

OUR OFFERINGS
1
Empower Women
We’ve established a workplace in a rural area and equipped it with the necessary machinery, creating a dedicated space where women can stitch cotton bags and earn a steady income. This initiative supports their financial independence while allowing them to stay close to home—enabling them to manage both their household responsibilities and children alongside their work.
2
Door-to-Door Market
The bags are currently sold through door-to-door marketing, where we visit households and offer our eco-friendly products at a nominal price. In the future, we aim to collaborate with companies and grocery stores to streamline the sales process and reach a wider audience.
3
Up-skill programs
Empowerment goes beyond financial independence. To help women lead safer and more informed lives, we introduced educational sessions on key topics such as cyber safety, hygiene, legal rights, and more. Each session is designed not only to inform but also to foster confidence and independence, helping women become strong voices and leaders within their homes and communities.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
My name is Omisaa Bansal
I am a grade 12 student at DPS R.K. Puram. In addition to being an avid reader, I also write poetry and stories, often exploring themes of emotion, identity, and connection. Theatre is another one of my passions, as it allows me to step into different worlds and bring stories to life on stage.

The relevance and connection that economics brings to our daily lives fascinates me, and I’m deeply passionate about driving positive, meaningful change—especially when it begins at the grassroots. I believe in the power of empathy, creativity, and community to shape a more inclusive and sustainable future.
